At DMC Youth Sports & Education, our journey began with a shared belief in the transformative power of sports and education. As founders, we recognized the potential to create positive change in the lives of underserved athletes and young boys and girls through a holistic approach that merges athletic excellence with personal growth.
FOUNDER/PRESIDENT
Hailing from Tangipahoa, LA, attended Kentwood High School, where he excelled in football, basketball, and track. It was during his senior year that he discovered his passion for working with children while assisting at a local youth center.
Earning a scholarship to McNeese State University, Darrick continued to excel in football and track, earning the honor of being a two-sport All-American. Following his college career, he seized the opportunity to pursue his dream of playing professional football. Darrick played for the Oakland Raiders New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts, notably competing in Super Bowl XLIV with the Colts.
As his playing days concluded, Darrick transitioned into coaching. He began his coaching journey as the head Wide Receiver coach at Langston University before shifting his focus towards middle school sports and training young athletes. It is in coaching and mentoring where Darrick finds his true passion. Along the way, he has had the privilege of coaching and training six aspiring athletes who have gone on to achieve success in the NFL.

Marcus Brown, originally from Tangipahoa, LA, had an impressive athletic career at Kentwood High School, participating in football, basketball, and track. He held the long jump record at 24’11, showcasing his exceptional abilities.
Earning a scholarship to McNeese State University, Marcus continued his athletic pursuits in football as a cornerback while also excelling in track. He later had the opportunity to showcase his skills in the NFL, playing for Arizona Cardinals, Cincinnati Bengals, and St Louis Rams.
Transitioning from his professional football career, Marcus dedicated himself to education and currently serves as an Assistant Principal in the Tangipahoa Parish School District. His background in athletics and passion for helping young students thrive in their academic journey make him a valued member of the education community.

Carlese Franklin, originally from Greenburg, LA, eventually relocated to Tangipahoa, where he was raised. At Kentwood High School, he had a notable athletic career, participating in football, basketball, and track.
His impressive skills on the field and track earned him a scholarship to McNeese State University, where he continued his athletic endeavors in football and track. Following his college career, Carlese went on to play in the Arena Football League (AFL) for 8 years, representing the Tulsa Talons, New Orleans VooDoo, and Cleveland Gladiators.
Currently, Carlese is a Plant Operator at Phillips 66, utilizing his skills communication and leadership skills in another industry. Additionally, he has also had experience as a teacher, dedicating 6 years to the New Orleans public school system. His diverse background and commitment to both sports and education exemplify his dedication and versatility across different fields.
